Strength training is the highest-return habit in fitness: more muscle, denser bones, better posture, and a metabolism that works for you around the clock. Yet most beginners stall in the first three months — not from lack of effort, but from lack of structure. Here is the exact framework our coaches use with every new Tempo member.

Start With Five Movements

You do not need twelve exercises and a spreadsheet. Master the squat, hinge, push, pull, and carry, and you cover 90% of what matters. Our Workout foundations course teaches all five in four sessions, with a coach checking every rep.

Progress By Small Jumps

Add the smallest plate you can, as often as you can. Two extra kilos on the bar each week beats a heroic jump once a month — and it keeps joints, tendons, and confidence intact. Log every session; what gets recorded gets repeated.

  • Train each movement pattern 2–3 times per week.
  • Leave 1–2 reps in reserve on most sets.
  • Sleep 7+ hours — muscle is built overnight, not in the gym.
  • Eat roughly 1.6–2.2g of protein per kilo of body weight.

When To Go Heavy

Heavy singles and doubles have their place, but they are the dessert, not the dinner. Spend your first six months in the 5–10 rep range building flawless technique. When your form holds under fatigue, our Power Lifting cycles will take you into true maximal strength — safely.

The Tempo Way In

Every membership starts with a movement screen: we check how you squat, hinge, push, and carry, then match you to the right first class. No guesswork, no ego lifting, no wasted months. Book your free screen and bring questions — that is what the coaches are for.
