You do not get fitter from training. You get fitter from recovering from training. The members who progress year after year are rarely the ones who go hardest — they are the ones who sleep, breathe, mobilize, and deload on purpose. Here is our four-part recovery system.

1. Sleep Like It Is Training

Seven to nine hours. Cool room, dark room, same wake time — even on weekends. Poor sleep can cut strength gains measurably and doubles perceived effort. If you change one thing this month, change this.

2. Breathe Down After Hard Days

Five minutes of slow nasal breathing after intense sessions shifts your nervous system from fight to repair. Our Meditation classes teach the exact protocols — box breathing, extended exhales, and yoga-nidra rest.

  • Post-workout: 5 minutes of 4-in / 6-out breathing.
  • Rest days: 10 minutes of mobility for hips and thoracic spine.
  • Weekly: one full rest day plus one active-recovery day.
  • Every 4th week: a deload at 60% volume.

3. Mobilize What You Load

Squat heavy? Open the hips and ankles. Press heavy? Free the thoracic spine and shoulders. Ten focused minutes beats an hour of random foam rolling — ask any Tempo coach for your three target drills after your movement screen.

4. Fuel The Rebuild

Protein at every meal, water before coffee, and enough total calories to support the work. Training fasted is fine occasionally; training under-fueled for months is how plateaus — and injuries — happen.

Recovery is not the absence of training. It is half of training. See this week's recovery sessions and put one on your calendar like any other appointment.
